"Growing up we had a Basset named Danke that found herself in the family way when I was in grade school. When the time came my mom called the school's principal and he rushed into the classroom to tell me to hurry home to see the pups being born. I saw the whole miracle unfold right there in the kitchen! Every day I got up early to care for the puppies and Danke. I knew then and there that helping animals was what I wanted to do."
