I decided to become a veterinarian as an adult.  Growing up, my family was medically oriented with both parents involved in human health care. My sister became a physician.  It was only fitting that I major in Biology as an undergraduate. I decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine after internships working with animals from the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, WI, and then the Smithsonian's Conservation and Research Center in Front Royal, VA.  I love getting to know clients and following their pets through all of their life stages. I enjoy the challenge of caring for animals by solving medical and surgical puzzles that can be quite complex when they are ill. It is a privilege to be part of such a great profession.
