Parasite Alert For Virginia Residents
Due to the alarming rise in Lyme disease in our state, the Governor established a Task Force to promote education and prevention of this debilitating disease. Pender joins them in urging you to protect your pets and family. Here's how:
- Vaccinate your dog this Spring.
Especially important if your dog has never been vaccinated as he will need a booster for maximum protection a few months later - Use parasite-control products year-round.
A recommendation from the CDC and the Companion Animal Parasite Council - Check your dog for ticks weekly.
Humans as well especially after walking in wooded areas or playing in fields. - Educate your children about ticks.
Watch for symptoms of fatigue or bull's eye rashes and seek medical attention immediately if you see one.
