HOW I GOT HERE

I grew up around a wide variety of animals from large animals on my family farm, to working in large animal and small animal clinics during my undergraduate degree. While working as a veterinary assistant before veterinary school, I volunteered at rescue groups and the Carolina Raptor Center. During veterinary school, I was an officer for an animal welfare program and participated in several research projects. Along with my love of traveling, I ventured to South Africa to help stop rhino poaching and relocate giraffes as well as various hoofstock. My veterinary school externships included Niles Animal Hospital and Bird Medical Center in Chicago, ASPCA in New York, and Wildlife Safari in Oregon. Following my graduation, I lived in Costa Rica teaching veterinary medicine to high schoolers, while participating in spay/neuter clinics and wildlife rescue facilities (Kids Saving The Rainforest and Proyecto Asis). Since working at Pender as a small animal and exotics veterinarian, I developed a passion for integrative medicine, specifically acupuncture, herbal medicine, and food therapy.
